From a solid cube of side 7 cm, a conical cavity of height 7 cm and radius 3 cm is hollowed out. Find the volume of the remaining solid
Solution:
Given, a solid cube of side 7 cm
A conical cavity of 7 cm height and 3 cm radius is hollowed out from the cube.
We have to find the volume of the remaining solid.
Volume of cube = (Side)³
= (7)³
= 343 cm³
Volume of cone = (1/3)πr²h
Given, r = 3 cm
h = 7 cm
Volume of cone = (1/3)(22/7)(3)²(7)
= (22)3
= 66 cm³
Volume of the remaining solid = volume of cube - volume of cone
= 343 - 66
= 277 cm³
Therefore, the volume of the remaining solid is 277 cm³
✦ Try This: From a solid cube of side 9 cm, a conical cavity of height 9 cm and radius 6 cm is hollowed out. Find the volume of the remaining solid.
