From a rope 68 m long, pieces of equal size are cut. If length of one piece is 4 1/4 m, find the number of such pieces.
Solution:
It is given that
Length of rope = 68 m
Length of one piece = 4 1/4 m = 17/4 m
We know that
Number of such pieces = Total length of rope/ Length of small piece
Substituting the values
= 68/ 17/4
Here the reciprocal of 17/4 is 4/17
= 68/1 × 4/17
= 4 × 4
= 16
Therefore, the number of such pieces is 16.
✦ Try This: From a rope 58 m long, pieces of equal size are cut. If length of one piece is 2 1/2 m, find the number of such pieces.
