Solution:
We will use the cross multiplication to find the fares from the bus stand to Malleshwaram and to Yeshwanthpur.
Let the fare from the bus stand in Bangalore to Malleswaram be Rs x and to Yeshwanthpur be Rs y.
It is given that
2x + 3y = 46 or 2x + 3y - 46 = 0 be equation 1
3x + 5y = 74 or 3x + 5y - 74 = 0 be equation 2
⇒ x / (-222 + 230) = y / (-138 + 148) = 1 / (10 - 9)
⇒ x/ 8 = y/ 10 = 1/1
⇒ x/8 = 1/1 and y/ 10 = 1/1
⇒ x = 8 and y = 10.
The fare from Bangalore to Malleshwaram is Rs 8 and to Yeshwanthpur is Rs 10.
