For which of the following figures, diagonals are perpendicular to each other?
(a) Parallelogram
(b) Kite
(c) Trapezium
(d) Rectangle
Solution:
We have to find the figure in which the diagonals are perpendicular to each other.
(i) A parallelogram is defined as a quadrilateral in which both pairs of opposite sides are parallel and equal. The diagonals bisect each other.
(ii) A Kite is a quadrilateral in which four sides can be grouped into two pairs of equal-length sides that are adjacent to each other.
The diagonals intersect each other at right angles.
(iii) A trapezium is a two-dimensional quadrilateral having a pair of parallel opposite sides.
The opposite parallel sides are referred to as the base and the non-parallel sides are referred to as legs of the trapezium. The diagonals intersect each other.
(iv) A rectangle is a closed two-dimensional figure with four sides. The opposite sides of a rectangle are equal and parallel to each other and all the angles of a rectangle are equal to 90 degrees. The two diagonals bisect each other and divide the rectangle into two equal parts. The length of the two diagonals is equal.
