For non-zero numbers a and b, (a/b)m ÷ (a/b)n, where m > n, is equal to
a. (a/b)mn
b. (a/b)m+n
c. (a/b)m-n
d. ((a/b)m)n
Solution:
Given, a and b are non-zero numbers.
(a/b)m ÷ (a/b)n, where m > n
We have to find the value of the expression
For any non-zero integers ‘a’ and ‘b’ and whole numbers m and n,
am ÷ an = am-n , m>n
Here, a = (a/b)
am-n = (a/b)m-n
Therefore, (a/b)m ÷ (a/b)n = (a/b)m-n
✦ Try This: For non-zero numbers x and y, (x/y)m ÷ (x/y)n, where m > n, is equal to a. (x/y)mnb. (x/y)m+nc. (x/y)m-nd. ((x/y)m)n
