Find x so that (2/9)3 × (2/9)-6 = (2/9)2x - 1
Solution:
Given, (2/9)3 × (2/9)-6 = (2/9)2x - 1
We have to find the value of x.
Considering (2/9)³ × (2/9)⁻⁶,
Using law of exponents,
am × an = am + n
Here, a = 2/9
m = 3
n = -6
So, m + n = 3 + (-6)
= 3 - 6
= -3
(2/9)³ × (2/9)⁻⁶ = (2/9)⁻³
Now, (2/9)2x - 1 = (2/9)⁻³
2x - 1 = -3
2x = -3 + 1
2x = -2
x = -2/2
x = -1
Therefore, the value of x is -1.
