Find three rational numbers between -1 and -2

Solution:

Given, -1 and -2

We have to find three rational numbers between -1 and -2.

The rational numbers between a and b is given by (a + b)/2

First rational number:

Let a = -1 and b = -2

a + b = -1 + (-2)

= -1 - 2

= -3

(a + b)/2 = -3/2

Therefore, the first rational number is -3/2.

Second rational number:

Let a = -1 and b = -3/2

a + b = -1 + (-3/2)

= -1 - (3/2)

= (-2 - 3)/2

= -5/2

(a + b)/2 = (-5/2)/2

= -5/4

Therefore, the second rational number is -5/4.

Third rational number:

Let a = -1 and b = -5/4

a + b = -1 + (-5/4)

= -1 - (5/4)

= (-4 - 5)/4

= -9/4

(a + b)/2 = (-9/4)/2

= -9/8

Therefore, the third rational number is -9/8.
