Find the value of the following polynomial at a = - 2 and b = 3: a² - 2ab + b²
Solution:
The given polynomial is a² - 2ab + b²
We have to find the value of the polynomial ar a = -2 and b = 3.
a² = (-2)² = 4
2ab = 2(-2)(3) = 6(-2) = -12
b² = (3)² = 9
Now, a² - 2ab + b² = 4 - (-12) + 9
= 4 + 12 + 9
= 13 + 12
= 25
Therefore, a² - 2ab + b² = 25
