Find the value of the following polynomial at a = - 2 and b = 3: (a/b) + (b/a)
Solution:
The given polynomial is (a/b) + (b/a)
We have to find the value of the polynomial at a = -2 and b = 3.
a/b = -2/3
b/a = 3/(-2)
Now, (a/b) + (b/a) = (-2/3) + (3/-2)
Taking out negative sign as common,
= -[(2/3) + (3/2)]
= -[(2(2) + 3(3)) / 3(2)]
= -[(4+9)/6]
= -13/6
Therefore, (a/b) + (b/a) = -13/6
✦ Try This: Find the value of the following polynomial at a = -3 and b = 3: (a/b) + (b/a)
