Find the number of vertices in a polyhedron which has 30 edges and 12 faces.
Solution:
We have to find the number of vertices of the given polyhedron.
Given, number of faces F = 12
Number of Edges E = 30
Euler’s formula for any polyhedron is, F + V – E = 2
Where F stands for number of faces,
V for number of vertices
E for number of edges.
According to the question,
12 + V - 30 = 2
V - 18 = 2
V = 2 + 18
V = 20
Therefore, the number of vertices is 20.
