Find the multiplicative inverse of
(i) -1 1/8
(ii) 3 1/3
Solution:
The multiplicative inverse is the number which when multiplied with the given number gives result as 1
(i) -1 1/8
Change into proper fraction
-1 1/8 = -9/8
(-9/8 × X) = 1
Thus multiplicative inverse of-1 1/8 is -8/9
(ii) 3 1/3
Change into proper fraction
3 1/3 = 10/3
(10/3 × X) = 3/10
Thus multiplicative inverse of 3 1/3 is 3/10
✦ Try This: Find the multiplicative inverse of
(i) -1/7
(-1/7 × X) = 1
