Solution:

(a) Let MP = x

SP = MP - Discount % on MP

495 = x -1/100 on x

495 = [100x -x]/100

495= 99x/100

x =49500/99 =500

MP = Rs. 500

(b) Let MP = x

x = 9250 + (15x/200)

x - 15x/200 = 9250

185x/200 = 9250

MP = Rs. 10,000
