(a) M.P. = Rs 625 and S.P. = Rs 562.50
(b) M.P. = Rs 900 and S.P. = Rs 873

Solution:

Sales Price(SP) = Marked Price(MP) - Discount

And Discount = Discount % × MP

Discount % = Discount/MP × 100

(a) Discount = MP - SP = 625 - 562.50

= Rs.62.50

Discount % = 62.50/625 × 100 = 10%

(b) Discount = MP - SP = 900 - 873

= Rs. 27

Discount % = Discount/MP × 100

= 27/900 × 100

= 3%
