Expand using suitable identities: (2x - 5y) (2x - 5y)
Solution:
Given, (2x - 5y) (2x - 5y) = (2x - 5y)²
Using standard identity: (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²
Here, a = 2x, b = 5y
(2x - 5y) (2x - 5y) = (2x - 5y)²
= (2x)² - [2(2x)(5y)] + (5y)²
= 4x² - 20xy + 25y²
✦ Try This: Expand using suitable identities: (3p - 2q) (3p -2q)
Given, (3p - 2q) (3p -2q)
Using standard identity: (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²
(3p - 2q) (3p -2q) = (3p -2q)²
= (3p)² - 2(3p)(2q) + (2q)² = 9p² - 12pq + 4q²
