Expand using suitable identities: (0.9p - 0.5q)²
Solution:
Given (0.9p - 0.5q)²
Using standard identity: (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b²
Here, a = 0.9p and b = 0.5q
(0.9p - 0.5q)² = (0.9p)² - [2 (0.9p)(0.5q)] + (0.5q)²
= 0.81p² - 0.9pq + 0.25q²
✦ Try This: Expand using suitable identities: (0.6x + 0.4y)²
Given (0.6x + 0.4y)²
Using standard identity: (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b²
Here, a = 0.6x and b = 0.4y
(0.6x + 0.4y)² = (0.6x)² + 2(0.6x)(0.4y) + (0.4y)²
= 0.36x² + 0.48xy + 0.16y²
