Draw an angle of 70°. Make a copy of it using only a straight edge and compasses
Solution:
We will be using the concept of angles to solve this.
Steps of construction:
(i) Draw a line l, and at point O, match the center of the protractor. Check the inner side of the protractor for the angle of 70° and mark that point as A. Join OA. For example, Ray OA makes angle 70° with line l.
(ii) Taking O as the center, draw an arc joining line l and ray OA. Mark the points as B and C where the arc cuts the line m and ray OA.
(iii) Draw a new line m, and at point P, taking P as the center, draw the arc of the same radius as we made on line l. Mark the point where the arc cuts the line m as D.
(iv)Now, taking B as the center, using a compass, measure the distance between BC by adjusting the compass to the same length. Keeping the compass undisturbed, taking D as the center, mark the same length on the arc. Mark the point where arc cuts the arc as E.
(v) Join PE. PE makes the angle 70° with the line m.
