Draw an angle of 40°. Copy its supplementary angle
Solution:
We will be using the concept of angles to solve this.
Steps of construction:
Step 1: Draw a line segment PQ, match the center of the protractor with O. Check the inner side of the protractor, at angle 40°, mark the point as A. Join OA, the smaller angle AOQ measures the 40° angle.
Step 2: The larger angle AOP is the supplementary angle of the angle 40°. Taking O as the center, draw an arc in the angle AOP. Mark the point as B and C respectively on line segment PQ and ray AO respectively.
Step 3: Draw a line m, taking S as the center, draw the same arc of the same radius as the arc OBCO. Mark it as T where it cuts the line m.
Step 4: Taking B as the center, using a compass, measure the distance between BC. Keeping the same dimension, cut the arc of the same length from T on the existing arc, name it as R. Join SR. Now the angle TSR is the supplementary angle of 40°.
