Construct a square of side 4 cm.
Solution:
Given, a square with side 4 cm.
We have to construct a square.
Properties of a square are,
- All sides are equal and perpendicular to the adjacent side.
- Diagonals bisect each other at right angles.
Consider a square ABCD,
AB = BC = CD = DA = 4 cm
To construct a square ABCD,
1. Draw a line segment AB = 4 cm
2. Draw a ray BX at B such that ∠ABX = 90°
3. From BX, draw an arc BC = 4 cm
4. With C as centre and 4 cm radius, draw an arc.
5. With A as centre and 4 cm radius, draw another arc which intersects the previous arc at D.
6. Join DA and CD.
