Construct a square in which each diagonal is 5cm long.
Solution:
Given, the diagonal of a square is 5 cm.
We have to construct a square.
To construct a square ABCD,
1. Draw a line segment AC = 5cm
2. With A as center, draw an arc of length slightly greater than 1/2 AC above and below the line segment AC.
3. With C as center, draw an arc of previous length above and below the line segment AC which intersects the previous arcs drawn.
4. Join both the intersection points obtained by a line segment that intersects AC at O.
5. With O as center cut-off OB = OD = 2.5 cm, along the bisector line.
6. Join AD, CD, AB and CB.
Therefore, ABCD is a required square.
