Construct a rhombus with side 4.5cm and diagonal 6cm.
Solution:
Given, side of a rhombus is 4.5 cm
The diagonal of a rhombus is 6 cm
We have to construct a rhombus.
A rhombus can be defined as a special parallelogram as it fulfills the requirements of a parallelogram, i.e. a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides.
A rhombus has all four sides equal just like a square. That is why it is also known as a tilted square.
Let the rhombus be ABCD.
To construct a rhombus,
(i) Draw a line segment AB = 4.5 cm
(ii) With A as centre and radius 6 cm draw an arc above AB.
(iii) With B as centre draw an arc to cut the arc drawn at point C.
(iv) Join AC and BC
(v) With A and C as centre and radius 4.5 cm draw arcs to intersect each other at D
ABCD is the required rhombus
