Construct a quadrilateral BEAR in which BE = 6 cm, EA = 7 cm, RB = RE = 5 cm and BA = 9 cm. Measure its fourth side.
Solution:
Given, BEAR is a quadrilateral.
BE = 6 cm, EA = 7 cm, RB = RE = 5 cm and BA = 9 cm.
We have to find its fourth side.
To construct a quadrilateral BEAR,
1. Draw a line segment BE = 6 cm
2. With B as centre, draw an arc BR = 5 cm
3. With E as centre, draw an arc EA = 7 cm
4. Draw another arc BA = 9 cm with B as centre such that it intersects the previous arc AE
5. Draw another arc ER = 5 cm with E as centre such that it intersects the previous arc BE.
6. Join BR, EA and AR.
Measure AR, we get AR = 5 cm.
Therefore, BEAR is a required quadrilateral.
