Construct a parallelogram ABCD in which AB = 4 cm, BC = 5 cm and ∠B = 60°.
Solution:
Given, ABCD is a parallelogram.
AB = 4 cm, BC = 5 cm and ∠B = 60°.
We have to construct a parallelogram ABCD.
We know that the opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal.
So, AB = DC = 4 cm
BC = AD = 5 cm
We know that the sum of co interior angles of a parallelogram is 180 degrees.
So, ∠A + ∠B = 180°
∠A + 60° = 180°
∠A = 180° - 60°
∠A = 120°
To construct a parallelogram ABCD,
1. Draw a line segment AB = 4 cm
2. Draw a ray BX such that ∠ABX = 60°
3. Mark a point C such that BC = 5 cm
4. Draw a ray AY such that ∠YAB = 120°
5. Join CD.
Therefore, ABCD is a required parallelogram.
