Architects design many types of buildings. They draw plans for houses, such as the plan shown in Fig. 9.68: An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms. The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre. Find how much moulding will be needed for bed room 1
Solution:
The figure represents the plan for a house.
An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms.
The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre.
We have to find the moulding needed for the bed room 1.
From the plan we observe that the bed room 1 is in square shape.
Perimeter of square = 4(side)
Side = 3.04 m
Perimeter = 4(3.04)
=12.16 m
Therefore, the moulding needed for the bed room 1 is 12.16 m.
✦ Try This: A rectangular room is 9 m long and 6 m wide. Find the cost of covering the floor with carpet 2 m wide at Rs 35 per metre.
