Architects design many types of buildings. They draw plans for houses, such as the plan shown in Fig. 9.68: An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms. The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre. Find how much moulding will be needed for living room
Solution:
The figure represents the plan for a house.
An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms.
The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre.
We have to find the moulding needed for the living room.
From the plan we observe that the living room is in rectangular shape.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)
Length = 3.81 m
Breadth = 7.53 m
Perimeter = 2(3.81 + 7.53)
= 2(11.34)
= 22.68 m
Therefore, the moudling needed for the living room is 22.68 m.
