Architects design many types of buildings. They draw plans for houses, such as the plan shown in Fig. 9.68: An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms. The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre. Find how much moulding will be needed for dining room
Solution:
The figure represents the plan for a house.
An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms.
The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre.
We have to find the moulding needed for the dining room.
From the plan we observe that the dining room is in rectangular shape.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length+breadth)
Length = 5.41 m
Breadth = 5.48 m
Perimeter = 2(5.41 + 5.48)
= 2(10.89)
= 21.78 m
Therefore, the moudling needed for the dining room is 21.78 m.
