Architects design many types of buildings. They draw plans for houses, such as the plan shown in Fig. 9.68: An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms. The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre. Find how much moulding will be needed for bed room 2
Solution:
The figure represents the plan for a house.
An architect wants to install decorative moulding around the ceilings in all the rooms.
The decorative moulding costs ₹500/metre.
We have to find the moulding needed for bed room 2.
From the plan we observe that the bed room 2 is in rectangular shape.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)
Length = 3.04 m
Breadth = 2.43 m
Perimeter = 2(3.04 + 2.43)
= 2(5.47)
= 10.94 m
Therefore, the moulding needed for bed room 2 is 10.94 m.
