An employee works in a company on a contract of 30 days on the condition that he will receive Rs. 120 for each day he works and he will be fined Rs. 10 for each day he is absent. If he receives Rs. 2300 in all, for how many days did he remain absent
Solution:
An employee works in a company on a contract of 30 days.
He will receive Rs.120 for each day
He will be fined Rs. 10 for each day he is absent
He receives Rs. 2300 in all.
We have to find the number of days he was absent.
Let the number of days absent be x days
Number of working days = 30 - x days
According to the question,
120(30 - x) - 10x = 2300
3600 - 120x - 10x = 2300
3600 - 130x = 2300
By transposing,
130x = 3600 - 2300
130x = 1300
x = 1300/130
x = 10
Therefore, the number of days absent is 10 days.
