We have to find the mode and range if the two groups are combined together.

When two groups are combined together, the data becomes

Arranging the data ascending order, we get

7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12

A mode is defined as the value that has a higher frequency in a given set of data.

7 occurs 3 times

8, 11 occurs one time

9 occurs 2 times

10 occurs 2 times

12 occurs 3 times

Therefore, mode = 7 years and 12 years

We know that the difference between the highest and lowest observations in a given data is called its Range.

Highest observation = 12

Lowest observation = 7

Range = highest observation - lowest observation

= 12 - 7

= 5

Therefore, the range is 5 years.
