Add the following expressions: a² + 3ab - bc, b² + 3bc - ca and c² + 3ca - ab
Solution:
Given, the expressions are a² + 3ab - bc, b² + 3bc - ca and c² + 3ca - ab
We have to add the expressions
On adding the expressions,
= a² + 3ab - bc + (b² + 3bc - ca) + (c² + 3ca - ab)
By combining like terms,
= a² + b² + c² + 3ab - ab - bc + 3bc - ca + 3ca
= a² + b² + c² + (3 - 1)ab + (-1 + 3)bc + (-1 + 3)ca
= a² + b² + c² + (2)ab + (2)bc + (2)ca
= a² + b² + c² + 2ab + 2bc + 2ca
Therefore, the sum of the expressions is a² + b² + c² + 2ab + 2bc + 2ca.
