A wire is bent to form a square of side 22 cm. If the wire is rebent to form a circle, its radius is
a. 22 cm
b. 14 cm
c. 11 cm
d. 7 cm
Solution:
It is given that
Side of a square = 22 cm
Perimeter of square and circumference of circle are equal as the length of wire is same
Based on the question
Perimeter of square = Circumference of circle
4 x side = 2 πr
We know that π = 22/7
Substituting the values
4 × 22 = 2 × 22/7 × r
By further calculation
r = (4 × 22 × 7)/ (2 × 22)
r = 14 cm
Therefore, its radius is 14 cm.
✦ Try This: A wire is bent to form a square of side 44 cm. If the wire is rebent to form a circle, its radius is
