The Purchase Price of the TV set = Rs. 26,250
The given price includes the Value Added Tax of 5%.
Let the original price be = x
Hence we san state that:
x + 5% of x = 26,250
x + (5/100) × x = 26,250
x(1 + 5/100) = 26,250
x(1 + 0.05) = 26,250
1.05x = 26,250
x = 26,250/1.05
= 26,250 × (100/105)
= (26,205/105) × 100
= 250 × 100

The Purchase Price of the TV set = Rs. 27,500

Let the original price be = x

x + 10% of x = 27,500
x + (10/100) × x = 27,500
x(1 + 10/100) = 27,500
x(1 + 0.10) = 27,500
1.10x = 27,500
x = 27,500/1.10
= 27,500 × (100/110)
= (27,500/110) × 100
= 250 × 100
= Rs. 25000
