A shopkeeper has one spherical laddoo of radius 5cm. With the same amount of material, how many laddoos of radius 2.5 cm can be made?
Solution:
Given, a shopkeeper has one spherical laddoo of radius 5 cm
We have to find the number of small laddoos of radius 2.5 cm can be made from the same amount of spherical laddoo.
Volume of sphere = 4/3 πr³
Where, r is the radius of sphere
Volume of spherical laddoo of radius 5 cm = 4/3 π(5)³
= 4/3 π(125) cm³
Volume of one small ladoo of radius 2.5 cm = 4/3 π(2.5)³
= 4/3 π(15.625) cm³
Number of laddoos = volume of spherical laddoo / volume of small laddoo
= 4/3 π(125) / 4/3 π(15.625)
= 125 / 15.625
= 8
Therefore, the number of laddoos is 8
