A right circular cylinder of radius r cm and height h cm (h>2r) just encloses a sphere of diameter
a. r cm
b. 2r cm
c. h cm
d. 2h cm
Solution:
As the cylinder encloses the sphere
Diameter of sphere is equal to the diameter of the cylinder i.e. 2r cm
Therefore, the right circular cylinder encloses a sphere of diameter of 2r cm.
✦ Try This: Find the surface area of a sphere of radius 5.6 cm.
It is given that
Radius of sphere = 5.6 cm
Surface area of sphere = 4πr²
Substituting the values
= 4 x 22/7 × (5.6)²
= 394.24 cm²
Therefore, the surface area of a sphere is 394.24 cm².
