A playground in the town is in the form of a kite. The perimeter is 106 metres. If one of its sides is 23 metres, what are the lengths of other three sides?
Solution:
Given, the playground is in the form of a kite.
The perimeter of the playground is 106 m.
One of its sides is 23 m.
We have to find the other three sides of the playground.
A Kite is a quadrilateral in which four sides can be grouped into two pairs of equal-length sides that are adjacent to each other and the diagonals intersect each other at right angles.
Let the length on the other side be x m.
Now, perimeter = 23 + 23 + x + x
106 = 46 + 2x
2x = 106 - 46
2x = 60
x = 60/2
x = 30
Therefore, the length of the other three sides are 23 m, 30 m and 30 m.
