Solution:

Given, a piece of cloth 5 m long shrinks 10 percent on washing.

We have to find the measure of the length of the cloth after washing.

According to the question,

Initial length = 5 m

Length of shrink = 10% of 5 m

= (10/100) × 5

= 5/10

= 0.5 m

Length of shrinked cloth = initial length - shrink length

= 5 - 0.5

= 4.5 m

Therefore, the length of cloth is 4.5 m
