5/6 lies between 2/3 and 1. Is the given statement true or false

Solution:

Given 5/6 = 0.8 , 2/3 = 0.6 and 1.

By comparing we can say that 0.8 lies between 0.6 and 1 on the number line.

The equivalent fraction of ⅔ with the denominator 6 is 4/6 and the equivalent fraction of 1 with the denominator 6 is 6/6. Clearly, ⅚ lies between 4/6 and 6/6.

Hence, the statement is true.

1/3 = 0.33 and 4/5 = 0.8

Clearly, 0.33 is less than 0.8 which is less than 2.

Hence, 0.33 doesn't lie between 0.8 and 2.
