4/√3. Rationalise the denominator and hence evaluate by taking √2 = 1.414, √3 = 1.732 and √5 = 2.236, upto three places of decimal
Solution:
Given, the expression is 4/√3
We have to rationalise the denominator and evaluate the given expression.
To rationalise we have to take conjugate,
4/√3 = 4/√3 × √3/√3
= 4√3/3
Given, √3 = 1.732
4√3/3 = 4(1.732)/3
= 6.928/3
= 2.3093333
Therefore, 4/√3 = 2.309
✦ Try This: Rationalise the denominator of the following and hence evaluate by taking √2 = 1.414, √3 = 1.732 and √5 = 2.236, upto three places of decimal 5/√3
Given, the expression is 5/√3
We have to rationalise the denominator and evaluate the given expression.
To rationalise we have to take conjugate,
5/√3 = 5/√3 × √3/√3
= 5√3/3
Given, √3 = 1.732
5√3/3 = 5(1.732)/3
= 8.66/3
= 2.88667
Therefore, 5/√3 = 2.887
