A Line Graph displays data that changes continuously over periods of time.
The linear graph below demonstrates the above statement. For each value of Time(T) there is a value of y which can be found out from the linear graph.
There are infinite points like the points shown on the line graph above. Each point has a unique value of y for a unique value of T like the sample point T4 and Y4 shown above.

In the x-y plane of the graph at least two points are needed to draw a line.
The two graphs below demonstrate that a line can be plotted in the x-y plane with help of at least two points. With only one point being the starting point will be known but not the ending point.
In graph (a) only one point is given. We have the starting point in the form of P(x, y) but not the terminating point. So we do not know in which direction to draw the line. Graph (b) has two points and if either of them is chosen as the starting point then the other is the terminating point.
