(-1/4)³ × (-1/4)⁻⁻⁻⁻ = (-1/4)¹¹. Fill in the blanks to make the statement true.
Solution:
Given, (-1/4)³ × (-1/4)⁻⁻⁻⁻ = (-1/4)¹¹
We have to fill in the blanks to make the statement true.
For any non-zero integers ‘a’ and ‘b’ and whole numbers m and n,
am × an = am+n
Here, a = (-1/4)
Also, m = 3 and m+n = 11
Now, 3 + n = 11
n = 11 - 3
n = 8
aⁿ = (-1/4)⁸
Therefore, the required value is (-1/4)⁸
✦ Try This: (-3/5)⁹ × (-3/5)⁻⁻⁻⁻ = (-3/5)¹⁶. Fill in the blanks to make the statement true.
