Volume of Cylinder Calculator
Volume of cylinder calculator computes the volume of any substance to be carried in that cylinder. A cylinder is a three-dimensional object that has a circular base and a certain height. The volume of a cylinder can be defined as the amount of space contained within the cylinder.

How Volume of Cylinder Calculator Works?
When a surface is formed by points at a fixed distance from a straight line axis, a cylinder is created. The most commonly used type of cylinder is a right-circular cylinder. When the centers of the upper and lower circular bases of a cylinder are connected by an axis perpendicular to the plane of the bases, it forms a right circular cylinder. The volume of a cylinder is measured in cubic units. We use a simple formula to find the volume which is given by πr2h. Here, r is the radius of the circular base, h is the height of the cylinder, and π (pi) is a constant given by either 3.14 or 22/7. The value of pi must be chosen such that the calculations get simplified. The volume of any object is given by the area of the base multiplied by its height. As the base of a cylinder is circular hence, its base area is given by πr2 (area of a circle). This is multiplied by the height to give the formula for the volume of a cylinder (πr2h).
Solved Examples on Volume of Cylinder Calculator
Example 1:
A cylinder has a radius of 3 units and a height of 5 units. Find the volume of the cylinder and verify it using the volume of cylinder calculator.
Solution:
The formula used to find the volume of a cylinder = πr2h. The radius = 3 units, height = 5 units. So, we will substitute the values:
Volume of a cylinder = πr2h
We choose the value of π to be 3.14.
= 3.14 × 3 × 3 × 5 = 141.3 units
Therefore, Volume of cylinder = 141.3 units.
Example 2:
The volume of a coke can is 1400 cubic units with a radius of 7 units. Find the height of the coke can.
Solution:
The formula used to find the volume of a cylinder = πr2h. The volume is 1400 cm3 and the radius is 7 cm.
For simplifying calculations we choose the value of pi as 22/7
Volume of a cylinder = πr2h
1400 = (22/7) × 7 × 7 × h
1400 = 22 × 7 × h
1400 = 154 × h
h = 9.09 units
Therefore, the height of the cylinder is 9.09 units.
Similarly, you can try the volume of cylinder calculator to find the volume with the following dimensions:
- Find the volume of a cylinder whose radius is 14 units and height is 21 units.
- Find the volume of a cylinder whose radius is 24 units and height is 345 units.
