How to Find the Unit Price of a Quantity?
The unit price of a quantity is calculated by dividing the total price by the number of units. To understand this let us take a simple example. In a supermarket, the price of a gross of pencil boxes is $200 and the customer needs to buy only one pencil box set. Here we need to find the price of one unit item. Let us use the formula for unit price to find this.
Unit Price = Total Price / Number of units
But without using a calculator let us first find the price of each pencil box. There are 20 units in one gross. Here the price of one pencil box is 200 ÷ 20 = 10. Therefore the price of each pencil box is $20. Let us look at the below solved example to understand how to find the price of a unit item.
