How to Find a Signal to Noise Ratio?
The signal to noise ratio formula is the ratio of the power of the signal to the power of the noise in the surrounding of the signal that is causing disturbance to the signal transmission. The signal to noise ratio formula is given as:
Signal to Noise Ratio = (Psignal) / (Pnoise) = μ / σ
Solved Examples on Signal to Noise Ratio Calculator
Example 1:
What will be the signal to noise ratio of the given data: 5, 6, 9, 8, if the standard deviation of the given data is 1.83
Solution:
To find signal to noise ratio
Given, σ = 1.83
Finding mean of the given data,
μ = (5 + 6 + 9 + 8) / 4 = 7
Using the signal to noise ratio formula,
SNR = μ / σ
SNR = 7 / 1.83
SNR = 3.83
Example 2:
What will be the signal to noise ratio of the given data: 1, 3, 5, 7, if the standard deviation of the given data is 2.7
Solution:
To find signal to noise ratio
Given, σ = 2.7
Finding mean of the given data,
μ = (1 + 3 + 7 + 9) / 4 = 5
Using the signal to noise ratio formula,
SNR = μ / σ
SNR = 5 / 2.7
SNR = 1.85
Example 3:
What will be the signal to noise ratio of the given data: 3, 5, 11, 7, 9 if the standard deviation of the given data is 4.1
Solution:
To find signal to noise ratio
Given, σ = 4.1
Finding mean of the given data,
μ = (3 + 5 + 11 + 7 + 9) / 5 = 7
Using the signal to noise ratio formula,
SNR = μ / σ
SNR = 7 / 4.1
SNR = 1.7
