PEMDAS Calculator
PEMDAS calculator computes the value of a mathematical expression by following the order of operations. Depending upon the country, PEMDAS is also known as BODMAS, GEMDAS, or BEDMAS.
What is PEMDAS Calculator?
PEMDAS calculator is a free online tool that helps to solve mathematical expressions correctly by following the order of operations. The set of rules that are given to evaluate a mathematical expression consisting of multiple operators is known as the order of operations. To use the PEMDAS calculator, enter the expression in the input box.

How Does PEMDAS Calculator Work?
When a mathematical expression consists of several operations, its simplification can result in different answers. To avoid this confusion and to get the correct answer we use the order of operations to evaluate such an expression. PEMDAS is an acronym that is used to depict the order which must be followed while solving expressions. PEMDAS stands for P - Parentheses, E - Exponents, M - Multiplication, D - Division, A - Addition, and S - Subtraction. To evaluate an expression first we solve the terms written within parentheses or brackets. Next, operations are carried out on exponents or powers. We then move ahead to multiplication or division. These operations are executed sequentially as we move from left to right in the expression. Finally, addition or subtraction is performed. Similar to multiplication and division, we move from left to right and carry out addition or subtraction, whichever comes first. An easy mnemonic to remember PEMDAS is Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. To ensure that each mathematical expression results in a unique answer PEMDAS is used.
Solved Examples on PEMDAS Calculator
Example 1:
Find the value of the given expression: (12 + 3) × 2 and verify it using the online PEMDAS Calculator.
Solution:
To solve the given expression, we have to apply the PEMDAS rule.
So, according to that, first, we have to solve the expression in parentheses.
(12 + 3) × 2 = (15) × 2
Now on multiplying,
(12 + 3) × 2 = 30.
Example 2:
Find the value of the given expression: (10 + 52) - 8/2 × 3 and verify it using the online PEMDAS Calculator.
Solution:
To solve the given expression, we have to apply PEMDAS rule.
So, according to that, first, we have to solve the expression in parentheses.
(10 + 52) - 8/2 × 3 = (10 + 25) - 8/2 × 3 (We solve the exponent first)
= 35 - 8/2 × 3 (Then we perform addition).
Division and multiplication have a higher rank than subtraction. Furthermore, as we move from left to right, division appears first and then multiplication.
= 35 - 4 × 3 (Dividing)
= 35 - 12 (Multiplying)
= 23 (Subtracting)
Thus, (10 + 52) - 8/2 × 3 = 23.
Now try using the PEMDAS calculator to evaluate the following expressions:
- 34 - 43 × 2 / 4
- 22 + (20 × 3 - 45 ÷ 5)
