Solved Examples on Multiplying Decimals Calculator
Example 1:
Multiply: 5.6 × 1.2
Solution:
First, multiply the numbers, ignoring the decimal points. 56 × 12 = 672
Now, count the numbers after the decimal points in both the numbers. Since, there are 2 numbers in all after the decimal, we will place the decimal in the product after 2 numbers, starting from the right.
Therefore, 5.6 × 1.2 = 6.72
Example 2:
Multiply: 24.7 × 4.6
Solution:
First, multiply the numbers, ignoring the decimal points 247 × 46 = 11362
Now, count the numbers after the decimal points in both the numbers. Since, there are 2 numbers in all after the decimal, we will place the decimal in the product after 2 numbers, starting from the right.
Therefore, 24.7 × 4.6 = 113.62
