AP Calculus BC 5/5: Aarav's Journey From Algebra 1
Some students go looking for the hardest problems, not the easy ones. Aarav Dey was one of them, and from his early years with Cuemath he was always ready to go further and faster.
That drive took him a long way. Aarav, a Grade 11 student in the US, earned a perfect 5 out of 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam, the highest score there is, after working his way up from Algebra 1. His Cuemath tutor, Rajini Balaji, guided him from Algebra 1 to Calculus BC through online math tutoring, giving him the next challenge each time he was ready for it.

A bright, curious student can lose interest in math for a surprising reason, not because it is too hard, but because the class moves too slowly. Sitting through material they have already mastered, waiting for everyone else to catch up, can make even a favorite subject start to feel dull.
Aarav was never in danger of that. Quietly confident and happiest with a tough problem to solve, he was always reaching for what came next. What he really needed was the freedom to keep climbing without having to slow down.
"Aarav Dey joined my tutoring in the year Sep 2021, from the course if Alg 1. From thereon he has completed his Calculus BC. Quite a reserved child but so full of confidence. Have seen him grow in leaps and bounds. Always ready for challenges, eager to do the Advanced and tricky problems, and a complete dedication and focus towards his aim. Wishing Aarav a bright future."
~ RAJINI BALAJI, CUEMATH TUTOR
That freedom is exactly what Cuemath gave him. Instead of holding him to a set number of lessons, it let him move as quickly as he was ready to, some days ten or fifteen exercises in one sitting, so he never lost momentum. Rajini stayed right beside him, stretching him with advanced problems and encouraging him at every step. Rather than hand him answers, she nudged him with the right question until he worked each idea out himself, so he came away understanding why the math worked, not just how. One step at a time, Algebra 1 grew into Calculus BC.
"Rajani Ma’am made the experience even more meaningful through her patient, personalized, and highly committed tutoring. She consistently went beyond regular lessons to strengthen Aarav’s understanding, challenge him with advanced problems, and guide him through difficult concepts. Cuemath’s flexible learning approach, combined with Rajani Ma’am’s mentorship and encouragement, played an important role in helping Aarav earn a perfect 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam."
~ AARAV'S PARENT
AP Calculus BC is an introductory college-level course, covering about two semesters of university calculus in one year, from limits and integrals to infinite series. The exam is scored from 1 to 5, and a 5, the highest, can earn college credit at many universities. Reaching it from Algebra 1 is a long climb, and Aarav is not the only one of Rajini's students to make it, another earned a perfect 5 on AP Calculus BC too.
Aarav did not just move fast, he mastered each idea before reaching for the next. By Grade 11 he was fluent in college-level calculus and still eager for the next challenge. That is what being MathFit really means, real understanding, quiet confidence, and a genuine love for a challenge. The students who go this far are almost always the ones who got to learn at their own pace from an early age, free to move as fast as their curiosity could take them.
