Work out the surface area of the L shaped figure given below (use π= 3.14).
The surface Area of the above figure is the sum of the surface areas of the two cuboids minus the surface area of the portion where they are joined.
Surface Area of Cuboid 1 = 2(24 × 12 + 24 × 12 + 12 × 12) - 12 × 12 = 1296cm²
Cuboid 2 is actually a cube with edge 12 cm
Surface Area of cuboid 2 = 6 ×(12)² - 12 × 12 = 720cm²
Total Surface Area = 1296 + 720 = 2016cm²
✦ Try This: Work out the surface area of the L shaped figure given below (use π= 3.14)
The surface Area of the above figure is the sum of the surface areas of the two cuboids minus the surface area of the portion where they are joined.
Surface Area of Cuboid 1 = 2(12 × 6 + 12 × 6 + 6 × 6) - 6 × 6 = 324cm²
Cuboid 2 is actually a cube with edge 12 cm
Surface Area of cuboid 2 = 6 ×(6)² - 6 × 6 = 180cm²
Total Surface Area = 324 + 180 = 504cm²
