Use the Fig. 9.57 showing the layout of a farm house:
A fence is to be enclosed around the house. The dimensions of the house are 18.7 m × 12.6 m. At least how many metres of fencing are needed?
Solution:
It is given that,
Dimension of the house = 18.7 m x 12.6 m
We know that,
Perimeter of the house = 2 (l + b)
By substituting the values,
= 2 (18.7 + 12.6)
So we get,
= 2 (31.3)
= 62.6 m
Therefore, 62.6 m of fencing is needed.
