The sum of three consecutive numbers is 156. Find the number which is a multiple of 13 out of these numbers.
Solution:
Given, the sum of three consecutive numbers is 156.
We have to find the number which is a multiple of 13 out of these numbers.
Let the three consecutive numbers be x, x+1 and x+2.
According to the question,
x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 156
3x + 3 = 156
By transposing,
3x = 156 - 3
3x = 153
x = 153/3
x = 51
Now, x + 1 = 51 + 1 = 52
x + 2 = 51 + 2 = 53
Therefore, the multiple of 13 out of these numbers is 52.
