The loss per cent on selling 140 geometry boxes at the loss of S.P. of 10 geometry boxes is equal to _________
Solution:
Let the selling price (SP) of one geometry box be = x
SP of 10 geometry boxes = 10x
SP of 140 geometry boxes = 140x
Loss made by selling 140 geometry boxes = 10x
Therefore the cost price (CP) of 140 geometry boxes is
= SP of 140 geometry boxes + loss (SP of 10 geometry boxes)
= 140x + 10x
= 150x
The loss percent on selling 140 geometry boxes is:
= (10x/150x) × 100
= 100/15
= 6 ⅔%
✦ Try This: The loss per cent on selling 120 geometry boxes at the loss of S.P. of 12 geometry boxes is equal to _________.
Let the selling price (SP) of one geometry box be = x
SP of 12 geometry boxes = 12x
SP of 120 geometry boxes = 120x
Loss made by selling 120 geometry boxes = 12x
Therefore the cost price (CP) of 120 geometry boxes is
= SP of 120 geometry boxes + loss (SP of 12 geometry boxes)
= 120x + 12x
= 132x
The loss percent on selling 120 geometry boxes is:
= (12x/132x) × 100
= (12/132) × 100
= (1/11) × 100
= 9 1/9 %
