The length of a rectangle is two times its breadth. Its perimeter is 60 cm
(a) If the breadth of rectangle is x cm, the length of the rectangle is _____
(b) Perimeter in terms of x is _____
(c) The equation formed is _____
(d) The solution of the equation is _____
Solution:
Let breadth of the rectangle be x cm and length of the rectangle would be 2x cm
Then the perimeter of the rectangle be 2(2x + x) i.e., 6x
A/Q,
6x = 60
x = 60/6
x = 10
Hence 2x = 20
Thus,
(a) If the breadth of rectangle is x cm, the length of the rectangle is 2x.
(b) Perimeter in terms of x is 6x.
(c) The equation formed is 6x = 60.
(d) The solution of the equation is 10.
✦ Try This: The length of a rectangle is two times its breadth. Its perimeter is 90 cm. (a) If the breadth of rectangle is x cm, the length of the rectangle is _____, (b) Perimeter in terms of x is _____, (c) The equation formed is _____, (d) The solution of the equation is _____.
Let breadth of the rectangle be x cm and length of the rectangle would be 2x cm
Then the perimeter of the rectangle be 2(2x + x) i.e., 6x
6x = 90
x = 90/6
x = 15
Hence 2x = 30
Thus,
(a) If the breadth of rectangle is x cm, the length of the rectangle is 2x.
(b) Perimeter in terms of x is 6x.
(c) The equation formed is 6x = 90.
(d) The solution of the equation is 15.
